Suzy King
Suzy King is an urban and coastal landscape painter interested in details, afternoon light, and looking up.
Using photographs taken in different light conditions, she draws on her design background to compose and manipulate the images. These become the reference and inspiration from which she creates representational oil paintings but with a contemporary edge. Her work is not about history or preservation – her paintings are contemporary scenes recently observed and highlighting overlooked details of the present landscape. A student of the renowned landscape artist Clem Millward, his knowledge and guidance still inspires her.
A Fellow of Marine Artists Australia, Suzy has been painting full time since 2009 and regularly participates in group exhibitions on the east coast of Australia.
Much of her work is currently by commission and is held by corporate and private collectors in Australia, Canada, USA, the UK and Europe.
Suzy lives and works in Sydney with her partner and an unsociable cat.
