ASMA Mentorship Program

The ASMA Mentorship Program is a unique opportunity for artists of varying skill levels to develop their practice through collaborative dialogue. A mentor may offer various types of assistance, for example: teaching a particular technique or skill; offering advice on a prospective artwork or during the process of creating an artwork; providing constructive feedback on an existing work; or recommending various materials, books, courses or other resources.

The mentorship program is available to all ASMA members.

Please note that this is primarily an email-dialogue based mentorship- other forms of communication are subject to Mentor/Mentee availability and capacity.

The aim of the program is to offer mentees affordable, accessible, and welcoming developmental opportunities, and to offer mentors the opportunity to share their knowledge and skill. In this way we may benefit multiple generations and genres of artists within the Australian marine art community.

Prospective mentees may browse the available mentors and their specialities, and submit an expression of interest to the Secretary. If the mentor is agreeable to taking on the mentee, the Secretary will establish direct email communication between the two parties. Prospective mentors may submit an expression of interest to the Secretary, which the President and Secretary will review and adjudicate.

Please read the Code of Conduct before submitting an expression of interest.
